Basic Operation

Temperature controls

The fresh-food and freezer controls are numbered dials — 0 is off, 9 is coldest (setting 0 does not cut power to the unit). A mid setting on each is a good starting point.

Adjusting

After changing a setting, wait 24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. If you need to adjust, move the control one number at a time and wait 12 hours between changes.

Crispers & Water

  • Crisper humidity: slide to High for most vegetables, Low for most fruits.
  • Water filter: replace the filter cartridge about every 6 months for clean water and ice.

Care

Do not clean cold glass shelves with warm water — a sudden temperature change can shatter them. Unplug the fridge before cleaning or changing a light bulb.

Troubleshooting

  • Fridge or freezer too warm — make sure a package isn't holding a door open; set the control one step colder; allow 24 hours after any change to cool down.
  • Runs constantly — normal when first plugged in or after adding lots of food; modern fridges cycle often to hold steady temps.
  • Icemaker not working — make sure the icemaker power switch is ON and the water supply is connected; give the freezer 24 hours to get cold; level piled-up cubes by hand.
  • Water or ice dispenser not working — check the water supply, replace a clogged filter, and note the dispenser may be LOCKED (press and hold the Lock pad for 3 seconds). Air in a new system clears by holding the dispenser arm for ~2 minutes.
  • Small or hollow ice cubes / slow water — replace the clogged water filter.
  • Odor — wrap foods well, keep an open box of baking soda inside, and clean the interior.
  • Water on the floor — the defrost drain may be clogged (see the manual's care & cleaning steps).
  • Buzzing sound — if the icemaker switch is ON but the water line isn't connected, switch the icemaker OFF to avoid damaging the water valve.

Normal sounds

Humming, whooshing when doors close, clicking/popping, and gurgling water sounds are all normal for this fridge.

Leaving the Cabin

When closing up, clean the fridge and toss out-of-date items, but leave it on at a normal setting. See the Closing the Cabin checklist.
