Lighting a Surface Burner
Turn to LITE
Push the burner knob in and turn it to LITE. You'll hear a clicking spark — all burners spark until one lights.
Adjust the flame
Once the burner lights, turn the knob to set the flame size. The flame should match the cookware and never extend past its sides.
- The smallest burner is the simmer burner (turn to LO for delicate, low-heat cooking). The extra-large burner / Power Boil quickly brings large amounts of liquid to a boil.
- Only run a burner with cookware on the grate.
In a power failure
The oven won't work without power, but the surface burners can be lit with a match — hold a lit match near the burner, then slowly turn the knob to LITE.
Oven & Self-Clean
- Before running the self-clean cycle, wipe out loose grease and food so it doesn't smoke or ignite.
- Never line the oven bottom or racks with foil, use commercial oven cleaners, or clean the door gasket.
Safety
Never use the range to heat the room (carbon monoxide risk). The anti-tip bracket at the back must stay engaged — re-seat it if the range is ever moved.
Troubleshooting
- Surface burner won't light — make sure the range is plugged into a live outlet and the breaker isn't tripped, the gas is turned on, and the burner caps are seated correctly. Clogged burner slots or food on the electrode can also stop ignition (clean them).
- Burners light unevenly or flames are large/yellow — reseat the burner caps and clean clogged slots.
- Surface burners work but the oven doesn't heat — the oven gas shut-off lever on the regulator (near the gas line) may be off; flip it back on.
- Oven or display is dead — check for a blown fuse / tripped breaker, make sure it isn't in Sabbath Mode, and that LOC ON (control lock) isn't showing.
- Door won't open / LOCKED light on — the oven is still too hot from self-clean; press Cancel/Off and let it cool.
- "F" + a number/letter in the display — function error: press Cancel/Off and let it cool ~1 hour. If it repeats, cut power for 30 seconds; if it still repeats, call for service.
- Lots of smoke during self-clean — too much grease; cancel, wipe it out, and restart the cycle.
- Clock flashing — power outage; reset the clock and any cooking program.
