Garbage
We use City Sanitary Service. Garbage goes in the red bags (about $6 each).
Best Practices
- When going into town, remember to take the recycling with your trip so it doesn't pile up on the porch and get the floor/grout dirty.
- Rinse each container before placing it in the recycle bin to take to town.
- Divide the recycling into the three streams below before heading to the recycling center.
Sort Into Three Streams
1. Blue Recycling Container
For cans, plastic bottles (only #1 through #6), and glass bottles & jars.
- Throw away lids and caps
- Rinse everything out
Do NOT put these in the blue container
No plastic bags, plastic film or food wrap, Styrofoam, oil or pesticide containers, or broken plastic products without a recycling symbol.
2. White Recycling Bin
For clean paper only — mail, boxboard, newspaper, and magazines.
3. Plastic Bags
Plastic grocery bags go in the dedicated plastic-bag bins (there's a bin in Hackensack, or at the grocery stores).
Drop-Off Sites
- Take it back home and recycle there.
- Hackensack — by the Southside Gas Station.
- Longville — parking lot behind the library.
