Lighting
Open the lid first
Always open the lid before igniting. Make sure all burner knobs are off and the gas supply is on.
Ignite left to right
Push and hold a burner knob in for ~2 seconds, then turn to start/high until it snaps and lights. Light the burners left to right. If a burner doesn't light within ~4 seconds, turn it off and wait 5 minutes before trying again.
Preheat
With the lid closed, preheat all burners on high for 10–15 minutes. Cook with the lid closed to build heat and avoid flare-ups.
Turning Off
Turn all burner knobs to off, then close the propane / gas supply valve.
Care & Safety
- Check the slide-out grease tray before each use and clear built-up grease (grease-fire risk).
- If a grease fire starts, turn off the burners and keep the lid closed until it's out.
- Check for gas leaks with soapy water — never a flame.
- Replace the gas hose about every 5 years.
Troubleshooting
- Burner won't ignite — first check there's gas flow by lighting it with a match (matchstick holder is under the left side table). If it lights with a match, the igniter is the problem (call service). If it won't light even with a match, it's a gas-flow problem — reconnect the propane cylinder and make sure the valve is open.
- No ignition after trying — turn the knob off and wait 5 minutes for gas to clear before trying again.
- Yellow, lazy flames or a gas smell — burner ports or the spider/insect screens are likely clogged; clean them.
- Low or uneven heat, food sticking — time for a cleaning: clear grease, the Flavorizer bars, and the burner ports.
- Low flame / not getting hot — check the propane tank isn't empty.
Propane & outdoor use
Only use the grill outdoors, away from the cabin. Check the propane connection for leaks before lighting, and close the propane valve when you're done.
